100 years ago, on November 7th, 1917, under the leadership of V.I. Lenin and the Bolsheviks, the first communist revolution occurred, opening a new era of socialism in all over the world. The October Revolution had encouraged the working class in all over the world to rise for power and build their socialist government in opposition to the capitalist government. Following the call of the October Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh had led the Communist Party of Vietnam to build a socialism-oriented government. After 30 years of renovation and persistence to socialism, Vietnam has achieved historic success, most notably is the protection and development of socialism in Vietnam.

The birth of socialism after the October Revolution confirmed Marxist view of scientific socialism. Real socialism arose as a model of socialism based on principles of socialism. Before 1991, it was known as the Soviet model suggested by the Soviet Union. Despite its limitations, the model had its own achievements in economic growth, culture, society and human liberation. In its history of existence, the model helped the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe socialist countries to become world top industrial countries at that time. However, the collapse of socialism in Russia and Eastern Europe in the 90s was inevitable. It was the collapse of a particular model of socialism, not the fall of scientific theory on socialism. The remaining socialist countries were forced to seek new models of development. Each country has applied Marxism-Leninism in different ways to develop its socialist government.

The conference lasted for 2 days and covered the following topics:

1 / Russian October Revolution: the lesson of history and current meaning.
